And here she is, the lady everyone's heard about, but who no one has had the pleasure of meeting yet, your best friend's super hot mom who always has a batch of steaming hot cookies ready whenever you come over... Grand Mother Zilpha, esteemed leader of Nuva Isla!
Whether it be a brawl out on the battlefield or *ehem* "wrestling" under the sheets (if you can even make it that far), Zilpha's definitely your go-to gal.
Just the black and white sketch for now, I'll be working on her colors and deciding on her wing design, etc. over the next couple weeks.
Zilpha is a self-identified mix of:
Flicker (inspired by yellow variant Northern Flicker www.allaboutbirds.org/guide/PH… )
Oriole (inspired by Baltimore Oriole female www.pwconserve.org/graphics/wi… )
Right now about the only thing I know for sure about her coloring is that there's going to be a lot of orange, brown, and gold, with her skin color being somewhat similar to a spray-on tan...
If anyone would like to try out drawing/coloring her, I'd totally love to see what you come up with!
Until then though, if you'd like to know more about this knockout, you can read even more about her on my Patreon (Link to her first interview: www.patreon.com/posts/15570216 ) where you'll also get months advance access to chapters, shorts, and other cool stuff (plus even more Patreon-exclusive giveaways and contests in the future - and you all know how much I love my giveaways and contests! )
If you're new, Welcome! Be sure to check out the story from the beginning here:
Kawena Volume 1 Child of the Sky Part 1Teacher once told me, “There’s no difference between water and air.”
Just like then, I have always found his words to be true.
Whether it’s weightless wind threading my wings or water cupped in my webbed fingers as I propel through that dense world… in both water and air I always feel at home, and hardly recognize the moment when I traverse that line.
In the glittering slate-gray lake beneath me dozens of fish swished their tails back and forth in unhurried rhythm. They swam unaware of me hovering not too far above them in flows of wind so persistent I needed to only shift a single feather to hold myself steady in flight.
My pale grey reflection, covered almost entirely in the skins and scales of the very same sort of fish swimming the pocket of water below, was pierced only by a pair of vibrant golden eyes staring back at me as though I too were a fish being hunted. Instead of a tail or fins though, a long braid of silverblue hair lashed the air and occas
And feel free to check out the wonderful KotaVa, Kawena's new Illustrator!
I would appreciate any and all support here on Deviantart (I sure do love fanart~), on my Twitter, or through Patreon! Be sure to also watch out for the many contests and giveaways I do - I think next will be a writing one, maybe something wing-themed...
